Social guidance

Social guidance entails advice, guidance and support for example when it comes to services provided by authorities or contacts with cooperation partners. Social guidance aims to increase the client’s involvement. The focus of our work lies primarily on supporting life management.

Social rehabilitation

The aim of social rehabilitation is to provide intensified and goal-oriented support in order to improve and maintain functional capacity and life management. Social rehabilitation is carried out as a service that is provided at home. The goal may be to learn daily living skills, managing a life without substances, education or training in things that are needed at work or support for functioning in a group. Social rehabilitation is also organized in groups (e.g. peer groups for gambling addicts and a DBT group).

Day activities

Day activities are activities that are organized on weekdays. It is goal-oriented and supports clients’ social functional capacity. The day centre is located in the “Portti” building. Day activities are also organized as outsourced services when needed (e.g. Green Care activities).

Housing services

Housing services are intended for people who, for different reasons, need support with managing their addiction and arranging, safeguarding and maintain housing. Housing services are organized through outsourcing.

Institutional rehabilitation for substance abusers

Institutional rehabilitation for substance abusers is an institutional service where the client receives comprehensive treatment for their addiction. Institutional rehabilitation for substance abusers is carried out as an outsourced service and the client is usually granted a voucher for it for one month at a time. A voucher is only granted for institutions for rehabilitation for substance abusers that the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, Kela, has approved. In such a case, the client has the right to rehabilitation allowance for the duration of the rehabilitation. Before a voucher is granted, an assessment of the client’s needs for services is carried out.

Applying for institutional rehabilitation does not require a prior client relationship in social welfare or health care, but particularly further treatment in outpatient services for substance abusers is necessary after rehabilitation. If the use of intoxicants has been abundant and long-term prior to institutional rehabilitation, the need for a detoxification treatment period is assessed before moving to institutional rehabilitation. When a client is in institutional rehabilitation for substance abusers, the client lives 24/7 at the chosen institution. There are several institutions for rehabilitation for substance abusers in different parts of Finland.
