Family care in child welfare means arranging care for a child or an adolescent in a foster family or in the child’s or adolescent’s home. Family care is used for arranging care for children who have been taken into custody and who are placed urgently and for children who are placed outside their home as an open care support measure.

Family care for children and adolescents with an intellectual disability

Family care means arranging the care, supervision and necessary support for a child or adolescent with an intellectual disability in a professional family care home, in the home of a family caregiver or in the home of the person who needs care.
