Conscription call-up examinations
A young person of conscription call-up age should undergo a preliminary health examination before conscription call-ups in the autumn. The preliminary health examinations for call-ups are carried out for general upper secondary school students and students in vocational education.
The content on this page
The purpose of a preliminary health examination is to determine the fitness for duty of the person who is liable for conscription call-up and to identify and take into account possible risk factors related to the state of health.
If your municipality of residence is in the Soite area (Kokkola, Lestijokilaakso, Perhonjokilaakso), you can book an appointment directly with the public health nurse at your educational institution. If your home municipality is elsewhere, you can book an appointment at the health care centre in your own municipality.
You can make an appointment for a conscription call-up examination when you have received the conscription call-up letter. A youth health certificate does not exempt from a preliminary health examination. If you have a medical certificate from a specialist, take it with you to the preliminary health examination and the conscription call-up.
The purpose of a preliminary health examination is to determine the fitness for duty of a person who is liable for conscription call-up and to identify and take into account possible risk factors related to their state of health. The examination is twofold: the examination is carried out by both a nurse and by a doctor. A total of about 40 minutes has been allocated for the examination.
Any cancellation of the appointment must be made no later than the day before the examination.

- If you wear glasses/contact lenses, please be prepared to have your vision checked both with glasses/ contact lenses on and without glasses/contact lenses. Please note that you must be without contact lenses for 3-4 hours before the vision check.
