Vaccinations for travellers
It is advisable to contact the health care centre as soon as the travel programme and schedule have been decided, as it may take 1-2 months to implement the vaccination programme and to develop adequate vaccination protection.

Vaccination guidance for a person who goes on a trip is given by infectious diseases nurses as well as public health nurses at the maternity and child health clinics during the telephone hours.
After you have contacted Soite, the public health nurse checks what vaccinations are up to date and makes an individual vaccination plan for the person going on a trip according to the destination and duration of the trip. The public health nurse obtains necessary vaccine prescriptions from a doctor. The need for anti-malaria medication is also assessed. A doctor writes a prescription for an anti-malaria medicine.
The vaccinations are given at a maternity, child health and birth control clinic, in school health care or in student health care.
Basic vaccinations that are given at a maternity, child health and birth control clinic (tetanus-diphtheria, measles-rubella-mumps and polio) are free of charge for everyone.
A traveller’s need of other vaccinations is assessed according to the destination and duration of the trip. If a person going on a trip needs a yellow fever vaccination, they will get it at a maternity, child health and birth control clinic. The price of a yellow fever vaccination is 51.40 euros, and the price includes the vaccine and an international vaccination certificate.
Other vaccines that are needed on a trip are purchased by the traveller by prescription at a pharmacy, and the vaccination is given at a maternity, child health and birth control clinic, in school health care or in student health care.
