Labour

About 1,700 children are born every year at Central Ostrobothnian Central Hospital. We are a so called on-call central hospital. In other words, the hospital has a gynaecologist, an anaesthesist and a paediatrician on-call at all times. Labour ward 3 is open 24/7.

Childbirth classes

Childbirth classes are primarily intended for first-time mothers and support persons who will be present at childbirth. The goal of childbirth classes is to strengthen the expectant mother's own resources and help her prepare for the upcoming birth.

Coming to give birth

The labor ward is open around the clock. You can come to give birth without calling in advance. If you wish, you can ask for advice regarding childbirth or amniotic fluid breakage. The A1 main door of the central hospital is open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. At other times, you can call the labor ward from the intercom at the main door and the door will be opened for you.
