The purpose of support persons and support families is to have a positive impact on a child's life and to promote the child's healthy growth and development. A support family can help a family with children when it needs support and there are no relatives, friends or other helping networks nearby.

Apply for a support family or support person

A support person or support family can be arranged for a child when there are challenges and need for support in the child’s own family, and the natural support network is unable to provide sufficient support for the child and family. The aim when organizing a support family or support person is to help a child or siblings and their families and to ensure the health and development of the child.

Becoming a support person

A support person is an adult outside of the child's or adolescent’s home who meets the child or adolescent 1-4 times a month. The meetings are a few hours long and are spent doing things together, for example having a hobby. We are looking for balanced, reliable and committed adults of different ages. Both an adult living alone and an adult with a family can act as a support person.

Becoming a support family

The everyday life of a family with children is eventful and rewarding, but at times also demanding and trying for the parents. Many families receive support from their immediate circle when needed, but not all have a helping network nearby. A support family can help a family with children when support is needed and there are no relatives or friends around.
