General health examinations for persons of working age
A person of working age can choose to make an appointment for a health examination by contacting the reception of the health care centre in their area. Soite’s health care stations offer services to residents of the area in matters related to primary health care. A health check can also be done in the Omaolo service.

A digital health check in the Omaolo service
A health check can also be done digitally in the national Omaolo service. Omaolo’s health check makes it possible to obtain information about one’s own health status compared to other citizens of the same age. The health check assesses whether you need to contact the health care services or whether you can best improve your health by working on it yourself.
If necessary, the Omaolo service also gives you instructions on how to send the answers you have given in the questionnaire to a professional in Soite. If you decide to send the questions, they are directed to a professional for processing. A professional does a comprehensive survey of your situation and refers you to the examinations and/or services you need. The professional contacts you via the messages in the Omaolo service within 1-7 days from you sending the health check.

Information about the service
A person wishing to undergo a health check must first contact their local health and social services centre. The examination usually includes the measurement of your body mass index and blood pressure, as well as certain laboratory tests. An important part of the check is discussing the person’s health, work ability, functional capacity, lifestyle and possible symptoms.
Key topics discussed during health checks include nutrition, exercise, sleep, smoking and alcohol use as well as life management and social relationships. If a need for further examinations or treatments emerges during the examination, the person performing the health examination will refer the patient to the correct services. Those in working life can also ask for a health check from their occupational health care provider.
